About Keyboard-Check.com

Who we are, how we got here, and what we're working on.

How We Ended Up Here

In early 2026, two software developers bought Keyboard-Check.com. The site was already well-established: a team of professional hardware and web specialists had spent years building it into a tool that more than 2 million people had used to diagnose keyboard problems. That's a genuinely good product, and the user numbers prove it.

We bought it because we used it ourselves and thought it deserved to keep going. Our job now is simple: don't break what works, fix what doesn't, and slowly make it better. We're doing that adding features, improving accuracy, and keeping the whole thing free.

The tool supports multiple languages too, so whether you're testing keys in Tastentest für die deutsche Tastatur, проверка клавиш клавиатуры на русском, Tester les touches du clavier en français, Probando teclas del teclado en español, you're covered.

What we're committed to:

  • Keeping it free - no paywalls, no premium tiers
  • Keeping it accurate - if a key is broken, you'll know
  • Keeping it honest - we explain what the tool can and can't do
  • Keeping your data private - we don't track keystrokes or store anything

Who We Are

We're two developers. Between us we've got backgrounds in web development, browser APIs, and general software engineering. We're not a big company - it's just the two of us running this, which means decisions get made fast and there's nobody to hide behind if something breaks.

We're hands-on with the codebase every week. When users report issues - a key that doesn't register correctly in a certain browser, a layout that looks off on mobile - we're the ones fixing it. That's actually one of the things we like about running a focused tool like this: the feedback loop is tight.

We inherited something built well. The original team left behind clean code, a solid architecture, and - most importantly - a user base that actually trusts the product. We take that seriously.

What the Tool Actually Does Well

This isn't a generic "press a key and see if it works" tool. Here's what it's specifically good at:

Works on All Keyboard Types

Mechanical, membrane, chiclet, ergonomic, gaming - it doesn't matter. The underlying browser API captures key events consistently across hardware types from all major manufacturers.

No Installation Needed

It runs entirely in the browser. Nothing to download, nothing to install. You open the page, you press keys, you get results. That's it.

Cross-Platform

Windows, macOS, Linux, and most mobile OSes all work. We specifically test on all of these because our users are everywhere.

Accessible by Design

The tool was built with WCAG 2.1 in mind from the start. We're maintaining that - assistive tech compatibility matters and we're not cutting corners there.
